Firefighter..

I have been a firefighter for a bit now, and one question has continually plagued me. I have asked other Firefighters, Captains, even the Chiefs, nobody knows the answer. So, I will pose it to all of you, and the person who can tell me the CORRECT answer, wins. (What you win, I don't know, but you win!)

Are you ready? Here we go..

Inside this symbol are the tools a firefighter uses:
Center: A Fire Helmet
At 12 O'Clock: A Ladder
At 1 O'Clock: A Pike Pole
2 O'Clock: The Bull Horn the Chiefs use to use at fire scene
4 O'Clock is a Smooth Bore Nozzle

WHAT IN THE NAME OF SWEET CHOCOLATE CHRIST IS AT 11 O'CLOCK POSITION?? It looks like a shuffle board deal, or some short of magic wand! My Captain first asked me this question over a year ago, and I have since made it my personal mission to find out! I even asked the MSA Rep about it, he had NO CLUE!

Please leave your answers in the comments section!

New Dollar?

So, there is a new boy on the block..
A new face..
A new.. Dollar?
I have started reading about the Liberty Dollar, a new form of currency that is backed by gold and silver. They only issue as much money as they can back by the gold or silver, and they claim it's redeemable almost ANYWHERE! They issue $1, $5, $10 silver notes and pure silver coins, along with $500 gold notes and coins. Seems simple enough!

Now my interest is piqued.. I am a big fan of having some "other" form of money around, be it in precious metals, rare books or coins, or whatever, as long as it ain't greenback, but this seems a little, well, too good.
So, my question. Does any of you, out there, know anything about this. Anything at all. Please, clue me in!

I am the only one..

If you have not seen this video, you GOTTA see it. This is the video in which a DEA Agent shoots himself in the leg while giving a safety talk to a bunch of kids. The really funny part is he just gets done saying how he "..Is the only one professional enough in the room to have a Glock."

What a jack-ass. I love how the kids are begging him to put down the next gun he picks up! Scary part is, that there are Barney Fife screwballs like this on pretty much EVERY department, and the FEDS! Any bets on whether or not he is STILL a DEA Agent?

This would probably be the same kind of Glock that our "Hero" shoot himself with. By the way, it is a Glock 22 (in .40 Caliber Smith and Wesson, hence Glock 40.) This is what a large portion of the LEO's carry here in the US.
More Gun pictures later!

TEST..

So I am testing a new thingy for HTML that I learned..
Watch out for the PIG Pic this week.. It is a knockout!

The test is a new kind of link. The "linked" word is PIG. When you mouse over or click it, it gives you the definition. Yah, I know this is not new, but it's new to me!

Today was a super productive day. I got a bunch of house work done, including re-arranging the entertainment center, and dusting everything. Now, if only it will STAY dusted!!

I have started making plans for the BIG Search and Rescue Conference next month in Leavenworth WA. This thing brings in people from all over the world, last years had almost 1,500 rescuers in attendance, and this year should be just as good! It is a chance for SAR personel to get together and drink alot of beer get valuable training.

Ummmm... Beer... Good...

Pin-Ups..

I am not a big basketball fan. Dunno why, just not. As such, I am not a Portland Trailblazers fan. However, I grew up in Texas, which means I do like football! With football teams, comes CHEERLEADERS! Now, although I am a Dallas Cowboys Fan, tried and true, I now live in Washington, which means I am FORCED to cheer for the Seahawks, unless they are playing Dallas. However, I am giving the Seattle Seahawks another look, thanks to their cheerleaders, the Sea Gals, all of whom are the pin-ups today.
"All of them Rescue Mike?"
Well, maybe just the ones who flew over to see our Hero's fightin over in the Sandbox.

Folks, go see all the pics of the Sea Gals and our Hero's, maybe you'll see somebody you know!
I am working at the station today, looks like another typical 24 hr shift. Everybody, have a great Monday!

Sunday..

I awoke bright and early, about 10:30am, to the phone ringing. It was the vice-president of the Search and Rescue Team I work with. He explained that there was a train wreck, and we were dispatched, how fast could I be at the building? So this is how I got to spend my Sunday. A west bound Amtrak Train de-railed and my SAR team was called out to assist the local fire department, (we are all EMT's for the most part.) Can you say Mass Casualty Incident?

So we jumped in our trusty Rescue truck and ran code 3, (lights and sirens) all the way there. When we arrived, the Incident Commander immediately sent us up to Triage (french word meaning "to sort"). I met up with the Medical Group Supervisor, he said that it was all under control, they had 114 bumps and bruises, that's it, we could go back in service.

Having had to deal with a train accident before, I wasn't looking forward to another, thank goodness nobody got hurt. Although a couple of our new EMT's, fresh out of school, were a little disappointed. Oh well. There WILL be other incidents, I promise.

Just Wrong..

This is wrong on SOOOO many levels, however, because I am a disgusting pig, I am posting it anyway!
Allow me to Introduce The Bumper-Dumper!

Apparently The Bumper-Dumper has an honest to goodness US Patent!
® U.S. Patent # 6125480
Here is what they had to say 'bout it:
Uncle Booger's Bumper Dumper® The only hitch mounted portable toilet patented to use any standard full size toilet seat. It's the most comfortable, stable and sanitary porta potty in the world.Use it in the hitch receiver or as a stand alone unit.
Oh. My. Gawd.
